Produced with a sophisticated blend of synthesizers, guitars, electronic production and powerful vocals, Songs from the Big Chair marked a move towards a bigger and more polished sound for Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. From the instantly recognisable opening of “Shout” to the atmospheric “The Working Hour” and timeless pop of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” the album remains a defining release of the decade.
