Description: The Who’s Tommy is the English rock band’s fourth studio album, originally released on 23 May 1969. Widely regarded as one of the pioneering rock operas, the double album tells the story of Tommy, a deaf, dumb and blind boy who becomes a pinball champion and later a messianic figure. The ambitious concept helped establish The Who as one of rock’s most innovative bands.
This 12" 2LP is the 2014 reissue, released through Track Records. The 24-track album features some of The Who’s most iconic recordings, including “Overture,” “Amazing Journey,” “Sparks,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Go To The Mirror!,” “I'm Free,” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”
Written primarily by guitarist Pete Townshend, Tommy combines powerful rock performances with recurring musical themes and ambitious storytelling. From the instantly recognisable “Pinball Wizard” to the dramatic closing sequence, the album remains a landmark in the development of the rock opera.
