Description: Van Halen’s Van Halen II is the American hard rock band’s second studio album, originally released on 23 March 1979. Building on the explosive sound of their self-titled debut, the album combines Eddie Van Halen’s virtuosic guitar work with David Lee Roth’s distinctive vocals and the driving rhythm section of Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony.
This 12" 1LP is the 2015 remastered reissue, pressed on 180g vinyl and released through Warner Bros. Records. The 10-track album features the enduring favourites “Dance The Night Away,” “Somebody Get Me A Doctor,” “Bottoms Up!,” “D.O.A.,” “Women In Love...” and “Beautiful Girls.” Rhino confirms that this edition was remastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, with the vinyl cut directly from the original quarter-inch tapes.
Recorded shortly after the band's breakthrough debut, Van Halen II retains the energetic hard rock and heavy metal foundations of their first album while showcasing the band's developing songwriting and musicianship. From the instantly recognisable groove of “Dance The Night Away” to the instrumental showcase “Spanish Fly,” the album remains a defining release from Van Halen's classic David Lee Roth era.
