Description: Weezer’s Pinkerton is the American alternative rock band’s second studio album, originally released on 24 September 1996. Produced by the band themselves, the album marked a darker and more abrasive direction from their self-titled debut, with Rivers Cuomo’s deeply personal songwriting and Weezer’s raw guitar-driven sound giving the record a distinctive place in the band’s catalogue.
This 12" 1LP is the 2016 remastered reissue, released through Geffen Records / UMe and pressed on black vinyl. The 10-track album includes the fan favourites “Tired Of Sex,” “Getchoo,” “Why Bother?,” “Across The Sea,” “The Good Life,” “El Scorcho,” “Pink Triangle,” “Falling For You,” and “Butterfly.” The 2016 pressing features Direct Metal Mastering for Optimal Sound, cut at Abbey Road Mastering Studios.
From the aggressive opening of “Tired Of Sex” through the melodic “The Good Life” and the atmospheric “Across The Sea,” Pinkerton combines power-pop hooks with a more vulnerable and experimental approach. Although initially receiving a mixed critical response, the album developed a devoted following and is now widely regarded as one of Weezer’s most influential and enduring records.
For fans of Weezer, alternative rock, power pop and 1990s guitar music, this 2016 remastered 1LP edition is an essential addition to any vinyl collection.
