This 12" LP 180g edition is the 2018 reissue released through American Recordings / Sony. The 13-track album includes “Delia’s Gone”, “The Beast In Me”, “Drive On”, “Thirteen”, “Bird On A Wire”, “Tennessee Stud”, “Down There By The Train”, “Redemption” and “The Man Who Couldn’t Cry”.
Recorded largely in intimate settings including Cash’s cabin and Rick Rubin’s living room, the album combines Cash originals with carefully chosen songs from writers including Kris Kristofferson, Nick Lowe, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits. The sparse production gives the performances an unusually direct and intimate quality.
American Recordings remains one of the defining albums of Johnny Cash’s later career and an essential release for country, folk and Americana fans.
