Description: P!NK’s Try This is the American singer-songwriter’s third studio album, originally released on 11 November 2003. The album marked another shift in P!NK’s musical direction, embracing a rawer and more guitar-driven sound influenced by rock, punk and alternative music.
This 12" 2LP is the 2017 Red Vinyl Reissue, released through LaFace Records / Legacy Recordings. It was the first commercial vinyl release of Try This, with the initial pressing limited to 9,000 copies on red vinyl. The album contains 15 tracks across four sides, including “Trouble,” “God Is A DJ,” “Last To Know,” “Oh My God,” “Unwind,” “Feel Good Time” and “Love Song.”
Produced in part by Tim Armstrong of Rancid and Jerry Finn, Try This saw P!NK move further away from the R&B-pop sound of her early career. Armstrong co-wrote many of the album's songs with P!NK, bringing a stronger punk and alternative-rock influence to the record.
Lead single “Trouble” became one of the album's defining tracks and earned P!NK a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. “God Is A DJ” and “Last To Know” continued the album's mixture of catchy pop melodies, energetic guitars and P!NK’s distinctive vocals.
The album also features “Oh My God,” a collaboration with Peaches, and “Feel Good Time,” P!NK’s contribution to the Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle soundtrack featuring William Orbit. These tracks add further variety to an album that balances punk attitude, pop hooks and alternative-rock influences.
For P!NK fans and vinyl collectors, Try This is an important part of her early catalogue, capturing the period when she was establishing herself as an artist willing to move beyond conventional pop. This red vinyl 2LP edition is particularly appealing to collectors thanks to its distinctive pressing and limited-edition history.
