Description: KISS’ Music From “The Elder” is the band’s ninth studio album, originally released in 1981. Created as a concept album, it marked a dramatic departure from KISS’ traditional hard-rock sound, incorporating progressive rock, orchestral arrangements and a fantasy-inspired narrative.
This 12" LP 2014 Reissue was released through Casablanca and features 11 tracks, including “Fanfare”, “Just A Boy”, “Odyssey”, “Only You”, “Under The Rose”, “Dark Light”, “A World Without Heroes”, “The Oath”, “Mr. Blackwell”, “Escape From The Island” and “I”.
Produced by Bob Ezrin, the album combines theatrical arrangements, orchestral textures and progressive rock influences with the unmistakable personalities of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Eric Carr. Although its departure from the band's established sound divided fans on release, Music From “The Elder” has developed a dedicated cult following over the years.
Highlights such as “A World Without Heroes”, “The Oath” and “I” demonstrate the album's ambitious approach, while tracks such as “Fanfare” and “Odyssey” help establish its cinematic, concept-driven atmosphere.
